huo, we should always be proud of our skin color.  forget about the whitening lotions… the likas papaya whitening soap… brown is IN…

and you cant feel prouder about having a brown skin than by being in a white-dominant country.  funny how we filipinos are so crazy trying to have that fair complexion when caucasians spend thousands of dollars just to have tan skin… whenever i tell white people about how we want to be as white as them, they smile and act like they cant believe it.  so i would explain it to them that it must be because of the  colonial mentality brought by the  spaniards/americans to our country. most of us usually associate fair skin to beauty or even wealth…

now that its more sunny than usual, you can see lots of canadians spend time outside… bisan gatagi-ti ang init, uyon gid nila magbabad sa gwa.  free tanning mo. senyorito would ask me to join him get some sun, but i always decline.  no thanks, i have enough, i would say.

we were outside the mall last weekend, and since its very and sunny and hot, nagpasilong kami sa handung nga part. pero ang mga puti, sus, gapalamula ang panit nga gabulad sa gwa kag daw ga enjoy gid.  then bianca told us about what happened in the morning… naglakat kuno sila dalan kag mainit… daw summer da sa aton. so syempre, nagpayong sila eh… sang sa may intersection na sila… na oveheard nila ang hambal sang babae sa front seat sang salakyan:

abi ni tiyay, naga joke lang sila… ala-yari ka ni michael v… hehehe

then i have this experience sa balay nila senyorito… baw gina komparar nya panit nya sa friend nya…. with matching tupaday pa sang mga arms… para mabal-an kung sin-o gid ang tan sa ila… wala ko kapugong, gintupad ko man akon … kag mag-siling:

nine months had passed since i left pinas… ang naga busong, manugbata na siguro.   gloomy ang panahon… muni-muni… kumusta na ayhan ang:

• baryo ko… damo man gihapon tawo kung hapon?  ang mga bata nga gahampang sa kilid kalsada kung tapos klase. sigurado gid nga asta mag gab-i ang lagsanay kay wala klase… syempre kay mayo, may halad kay mama mary sa kapilya. kumusta na ayhan ang mga kasimaryo…

• banwa ko… amo man ayhan gihapon?  balita ko, gina bag-o na ang tindahan… siguro pagbalik basi magtalang na kung magbakal ko tinapay sa twin’s bakery, pa-xerox sa ila berning, bakal oatmeal sa mar’s, etc. kumusta na ayhan ang simbahan?  baw hidlaw man ta sang hiligaynon nga misa ba. kumusta na mga kasimanwa.

• probinsya ko… kumusta na ang iloilo.  traffic pa gihapon bisan may fly-over na?  baw hidlaw man ta maglagaw sa sm city, robinson’s, marymart, gaisano city, gaisano-guanco… manindahan sa super kag central market. mamakal pirated dvd sa valeria… sus, tani kabakal na ko sang hayden kho sex scandal saga ba. hehehe

• pungsod ko… taas naman presyo sang gasolina?  bad news pero good news sa mga ofw… taas ang foreign exchange rate.. hehehe… may A(H1N1) virus naman gle da?  diri daw nagtahaw na ang news parte sa swine virus.  balita ko idugangan kuno sang additional ray ang adlaw sa flag sang bayang magiliw?

• mga friends…. ano na ayhan ang gimik.. kung may ara gid man… ari na sa canada ang organizer.

• former officemates… busy busyhan man gihapon?  hopefully, ma regular na ang mga contract stars.. otherwise, padayun ang brain drain sang mga goodlooking kag talented workers pareho ni… ahem… humble ko bla..

bisan may gma pinoy tv diri, indi tanan nga baliat makalab-ot… wala ratsada eh… kag wala may nagaduhol sang tsismis sa tupad balay. abi balita-an nyo man ko…

ari pa ko di

huo, ari pa ko di… gakalipat lang mag update.  i have lots of time but i am lazy to write.  blog traffic is slow so probably that me made stop writing for a while.  plus i cant think of any good topics to write.  any updates about my sosyal, este social life?

nagkadto kami sa missassauga sang weekend para mag attend sang funeral service, tapos na-meet ko didto ang relative ko nga wala ko na expect nga makita ko.  bal-an ko nga ari man sya di sa canada, pero wala ko mag-isip nga magsugat-anay ang amon banas. first time ko nga nakita sya, nagapanagupnop na ko nga sya, pero sang nag hiligaynon na sya, wala na ko nag usik sang tyempo kag ginpamangkot sya.

and the rest was history… ang ending, ginhagad nya kami maglagaw after sang service, kay may ongoing nga festival of cultures sa banwa, so go kami eh… may mga booths ang different countries showcasing their cultures, foods, etc. at different sites all over mississauga.  nag lantaw kami hula dancers sa hawaii, belly dancing kag kaon shewarma sa egypt, kag saut tinikling sa philippine booth.

naham ut ko sa pinas booth, may trisikad sila didto… wala na kami nagsulod sa iya sang india kay basi di kami ka ginhawa sa baho sang bumbay.

we went home at 1am in the morning.  i told senyorito that i dont have anywhere to go during my week off, yet i had been to different countries in just one night.  oh well…

downtown brant

I took this photo while inside the vehicle. a shot of downtown brantford.  we used to pass this street whenever we bring lolo to the clinic for his check up. daw wala tawo no… pero hulat lang kung mag dulom kay sari-sari nga tawo makita mo.  indi kuno safe maglagaw da sa gab-i.

in one of those buildings is where i go for my haircut… speaking of which, i think i need one.  almost two months since i had my last one… still thinking if i am going to have a very short or just short haircut… any suggestions?

the bridges of paris county

i am beggining to love paris… the small, quiet town in south west ontario.  everytime magkadto ko sa banwa, daw ara lang ko sa set sang pelikula.  tama ka tawhay, wala gawa tawo, daw sa scene gid sa pelikula.

ang grand river, nagalabay gid nga daw man-og sa paris, so damo taytay… nadumduman ko na lang dayun ang pelikula ni clint eastwood kag meryl streep parte sa mga taytay…

kag-ina, nag feeling robert kincaid (clint eastwood) ako… i took pictures of some of the bridges…

malas galing, wala gid ko may nasugata nga francesca (meryl streep)..

basang-basa sa ulan

pirme lang ga ulan diri. so kung tapos na ang obra kag pwede na ka relax, medyo basa anay gamay.   kung magkadto gani ko sa twon proper sang paris, gahapit ko sa gamay nga book store didto. kag so far, apat na ka libro ang akon nabakal:

1. teacher man ni frank mccourt, ang nagsulat man sang favorite ko nga angela’s ashes.
2. crime and punishment ni fyodor dotoyevsky
3. the house of the dead ni fyodor dotoyevsky liwat… german author nga pirme lang gina mention ni jessica zafra.
4. american gods ni neil gaiman, ang writer sang coraline nga ginhimuan na sang animated film.

so far, ang crime and punishment pa lang ang naumpisahan ko nga basahon. kag gina-control ko lang self ko nga kung makapit ko liwat sa bookstore, indi ko anay magbakal sang libro… kung ka, magka back log ako.
